This time of the year has come: Lists, reviews, reflections, plans and resolutions! The old year’s almost gone and a new one’s about to start! Let’s not make plans, contracts or promises! Let’s just dream!
Where do I want 2017 to take me? Which travel destinations should I add to my 2017 bucket list? Do you need some travel inspiration for the new year?
1. Caribbean Sea
A cruise in the Caribbean Sea is something I want to tick off my bucket list. I’ve been very reluctant all these years when it comes to doing a cruise, somewhere, but I think 2017 will be the year that I’ll be more open to different experiences.
What do I wanna do there?
Enjoy the beach surrounded by flamingos in Aruba!
Swim with pigs in the Bahamas!
Skydive over the Great Blue Hole in Belize!
From the impressive archeological site of Persepolis
to the mysterious islamic architecture of Isfahan,
something’s telling me that this misunderstood country has a lot more to offer than we think!
Talk about a country few people can claim have heard of! What a shame though! Situated in the southern part of Africa, Namibia has intrigued me and my love for abandoned places with the unique site of Kolmanskop!
Not being a huge nature lover, Namibia has, also, managed to make me wanna explore its out of this world landscape in Deadvlei!
I chose to keep Europe out of this list because it’s very easily accessible and I’ve already explored a big part of it and I know I’ll always be coming back. If there’s one part of it that I’d love to visit this year, that would be the Andalusia region of Spain!
Think beautiful weather, amazing food and sangria, the beaches of Marbella, the grandiose beauty of Seville,
the oriental charm of Cordoba,
the (literally) edgy architecture of Ronda and so much more!
5. The Pacific Ocean islands
Australia and New Zealand are both well known and I’ve spent quite some time in both, but what about the rest of the continent? For sure there are things going on outside these two countries.
I’d love to explore the beach lifestyle in Rarotonga, Cook Islands (I’ve heard you can swim with pigs there, too, if my Caribbean plan fails!)
or just go for the all time classic choice of Fiji!
Though Salar de Uyuni is a reason more than good enough for me to head to Bolivia,
other reasons would be the Great Train Graveyard,
the Laguna Verde,
as well as the weird Witch’s Market for some dried llama fetuses promising good luck!
Yes, I’ve been to Casablanca a few times and yes, I’ve been to Rabat, El Jadida and Mohamedia briefly, but I want to spend time taking in the atmosphere of its smaller towns and villages. I can’t get enough of all the doorways, arches and elaborate mosaics and tiles!
I’m dreaming of walking through the narrow streets of the blue town of Chefchaouen
and exploring the country’s pride and joy, the city of Marrakesh!
A road trip. Any road trip.
Whether that’s around California and its many sights,
Utah and Arizona for a wilder side,
or going a bit off the beaten path and exploring the non polished side of New Orleans. I’m up for anything!
Temples, monasteries and pagodas is something I haven’t visited in a long time! And when hot air balloons are involved in all this, then I don’t need anything more!
Wait! Is that even an option? Antarctica as in the South Pole? Oh yes! It’s possible! Don’t get me wrong: I never said affordable! It’s still possible though! Whether by yacht or a cruise ship, everyone can reach this side of the world. The idea of visiting something so different and unique fascinates me!
